Karabuk, Turkey – Samar State University (SSU) and Karabuk University (KBU), Turkey joined forces in an effort to combat poverty through the signing of a memorandum of agreement on February 5 (23).

Aiming to use their resources and expertise to bring about sustainable change and improve the lives of those in need through this year’s International Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development (iPOVCON), KBU Rector Prof. Refik Polat and SSU President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) before the presence of the SSU International Affairs Director Dr. Elmer A. Prof. Polat expressed his fervor enthusiasm in “starting the process together” with SSU, KBU’s first partner-institution from the Philippines.

“As a University, we are honoured to be part of the program of Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development Conference. We would like to cooperate with you and conduct joint research,” he stated.

The 7th iPOVCON is set to happen on the third quarter of the year, this time with KBU as one of the International Collaborators, to fight poverty and help achieve SDG 1: No Poverty.
